Need help with memory upgrade issue in my desktop.
Bought a new memory PNY 4GB DD3 DIMM.H
Old Memeory :Total 6GB (2+1+1+2) 4 Slots.
New PNY replaced the 1GB on second slot from left. On motherboard marked as Slot no. 1.
New Config 9GB (2+4+1+2)
PC: Dell XPS 8300
Processor : PROCESSOR, I7-2600, 3.4, 4C, SNB, D2, L
Old Memory : (Samsung)
DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 1G, 1333, 128X64, 8, 240, 1RX8
DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 2G, 1333, 128X64, 8, 240, 1RX8
Issue:
Although performance of my PC has increased significantly.
But sometime Windows crashes with blue screen of death: page_fault something
(sorry didn't catch detail message. Probably it was PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA)
Can you please help me decide which is most likely the case:
1) Upgrade memory is not compatible: See Image http://imgur.com/BbXm5ae
2) The new [PNY] memory could be faulty
3) I need to some sort of SETUP or Configure/Install for my machine to properly use this memory.
4) I can't have mix of both type of RAM.
I ran DELL TEST [Dell Pre-Boot System Assessment] gives error with new memory as
Memory - Integrity test discrepancy. Please contact DELL support.
