Hi everyone, I have this really strange thing going on with my network and it's been going around for over an year now. I really want to make this clear. Is this even possible?
If I use my ethernet cable (Qualcomm Atheros AR8161), I get about 57mbps download speed and 5~10mbps of upload speed.
When I use my wireless connection (Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230) (RT73 USB Wireless LAN Card) [They are two different adapters and results are about the same]: on 2.4GHz, I get about 5~12mbps download speed and 5~7 mbps of upload speed. Same on android speed test.
on 5.0GHz [Since non of these wireless adapters have dualband connection capability I used my android phone to get the speed] I get about 30mbps download speed and 10 mbps of upload speed.
Now I feel like this is too big of a difference. I have an modem/router provided by Time Warner Cable and it's ARRIS DG1670A. Does anyone know how I can fix my download speed on the 2.4GHz band?

Solution
Buy all your neighbors houses and kick them out.

2.4g wireless is used for many things including all your neighbors WiFi routers. There can be baby monitors or security cameras etc. All you can do is try some other channels on the 2.4g band but this is not a uncommon issue. If you were to sit right next to the router I suspect you will get different results than even 10ft away.

This is part of the reason 5g is so popular. It actually has poorer coverage but that also means less signals coming from the neighbors house getting into yours.
