Hey, everyone.

I just wanted to know, if my front USB 3.0 ports are connected to a USB 3.0 cable (no USB 2.0 adapter interfering), and that USB 3.0 cable is connected to the 3.0 headers on my motherboard, will USB 2.0 devices still work if I plug them into my front 3.0 ports? Basically, do I need some kind of USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 adapter on my motherboard in order for 2.0 devices to work in 3.0 ports? This might sound like a dumb question, but it's my first build, bare with me.

Thanks in advance!

There's no adapter because it is supposed to be backward compatible. Nevertheless there have been some complaints.
Using the front ports can be problematic however. Plugging a USB flash drive in and removing it from the front can kick out other devices like mouse or keyboard if they are connected to the front or elsewhere like a monitor. That is what I found out yesterday.

Thanks for the help guys. @GearUp ya I tested it out with some USB 2.0 devices and it even feels like the USB plugs kind of get stuck, you gotta yank them out. Maybe that's just me, but oh well, hopefully my USB 2.0 plugs don't get damaged in any way.

The USB outlets on my monitor had never been used so they were tight besides being difficult to reach. If you have any difficulties with the mouse or keyboard you can used a USB to PS2 adapter. Those are still found on most boards.
