I'm curious if an H100i will fit inside a Rosewill Thor V2 without any modifcation of any sort. I've seen a lot of mixed statements regarding this set up. Some say it fits fine, others say it requires modding the case or using slim line fans in place of the default fans that come with it. Is there anyone that can provide clear insight to this specific set up? I'm debating whether or not I should get a Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212 or a Corsair H100i for my i7

The Thor V2 CAN fit the H100i, but some users have reported some alignment issues with the mounting holes or interference with upper portions of the motherboard, depending on the motherboard. I'd research the entire configuration to find confirmation that your particular board works with the case and cooler. A few of the videos and threads I've read on this issue HAVE shown that some slight modification were necessary, and others were turnkey affairs that had none of those issues.

As i7 has asked, it would also be helpful to know exactly what you intend to do. Personally, I wouldn't opt for the H100i anyhow as there are a LOT of users who have experienced issues with the Link software and poor performance from that cooler in general...

If a closed loop cooler turns out to be your decision I'd seriously look at the Cooler Master Nepton 240L or one of the Swiftech units.

I'm sure if you give us all of the hardware specs, somebody can verify if the configuration will or will not fit in the event you decide a 240mm cooler is what you want.

Ah yes, I suppose full specs might help out a bit. My apologies.

MoBo: MSI 797 Gaming 5
CPU: i7 4790k
PSU: BlackWidow TR2 8X50 AP

that's about all I can remember off the top of my head (At least that would affect things fitting inside the case)

As for what I intend to do with it, I did intend on OverClocking it or at least having the option to overclock without worrying about my i7 Melting. As far as my preferences go. I'm not entirely leaning towards one or the other honestly. Whether its Air cooling or a Closed loop liquid cooling, as long as it gets the job done. And judging by what you've said maybe the corsair H100i Isn't the way to go period, (possible issues fitting in case and other issues you've brought to my attention). So as far as "Future proof cooling" for when I decide to over clock what would you all suggest? I've heard great things about the Hyper Evo 212, or is there something better out there these days?

For gaming the overclocking of the i7 has been shown to NOT have any benefits anyhow, beyond 1-3FPS, making a worthless endeavor. For other pursuits, such as video editing or other high end applications, there may be some substantial benefits to it.
