What can I upgrade on this pre-built system:

Hello.

I bought a pre-built Asus desktop about an year ago. I downloaded CS:GO and to my surprise it lagged and FPS could not go over 25.

These are my specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770S, 3,10 GHz 800,00 MHz
4GB DDR3 Kingston 1600 MHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 620
Asus M51AC OEM System Intel Motherboard (Or something like that)
I am currently running Linux Mint (Rebecca)

I was wondering what should I upgrade first in order to improve this system? I was thinking of buying a GTX 750 TI and buy another 4 GB RAM.

Could it be that CS:GO lagged because of the Graphics Card? The weird thing is that I have watched videos on youtube with people playing CS:GO smoothly.

Thanks in advance!

The problem with upgrading cheap systems (prebuild is usually cheap but not always :D ) is that upgrading them is not easy in the sense that removing one bottleneck of performance just leaves you with another bottleneck of performance.

Before upgrading your low quality low power demand GT 620 card, check if the new card

1) fits inside your case (this can sometimes be a problem since GTX 750 TI is must bigger )
2) Most IMPORTANT !!! Check if you have enough power. How many watts is your PSU ? Over 500 watt means no problem. If it's less you might need to do some math.
3) Check the cooling. (Usually it's not an issue since these cards cool themselves quite well)

4) Check if your motherboard has the proper slots. I am not familiar with that OEM board so can't advise you about it. I presume it does.

1)It should fit, GTX 750 TI is actually pretty small!
2)300 Watts...So that might be a problem, eh? I should get a 500W PSU, that's what you're saying?
3)I have 2 fans and with its own fan it should be good, I presume. If It'll get hot I'll remove the side wall and keep it like that untill I get another tower.
4) Now this might be a problem since I don't know what to look for! How would I know if it fits or not?

And thanks for the answers!

You meet the minimum system power requirement so it will work. You don't get a warning if your GPU is underpowered, it just runs worse and slowly accumulates damage.

You also appear to have the right slot on your motherboard if it now holds a GT220.

You should probably buy the card, plug it in, see from there.
