Would an fx-8350 or i5 4460 be a better gaming PC upgrade?

I currently have an FX 6300, with an asus m5a97 le r2.0, and a sapphire radeon r9 285 OC itx compact(however I don't have an itx case.)My PC can run games that are more GPU dependent such as crysis 3 very well on very high settings, however on games like advanced warfare, I'm seeing major lag. Would it be worth the money to buy the i5 4460 and get a new mobo, or should I just get the FX-8350.
(I just upgraded my gpu from the HD 7790 to the r9 285 not too long ago, so I don't plan on upgrading my GPU again.)

As you can see from the link the fx8350 is cheaper and does well against the i5 in multithreaded tests. It is however weaker than the i5 in single core performance. As I have not seen many games use more than 4 cores, so I would recommend you go with the i5 as it will be more futureproof and you will generally see more performance.

Like "AnPCtester" said upgrade to core i5 would be nice.
Most games never use more than 4 threads so you`re not gonna gain any considerable performance increase if you upgrade to fx 8350. There may be a little increase in single threaded performance.
Some people are arguing that modern games will use more than 4 threads and stuff but WE ARE YET TO SEE THOSE GAMES.
Just sell the fx 6300 and its motherboard and get the core i5 4460.
Get the i5 4670k/4690k if you can.
