Hey, everyone.

I'm just wondering, what and how many power cables do i need for an EVGA GTX 970 SSC acx 2.0+ graphics card?

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Do they look like pci-e power connectors? More than likely they are. 6+2 works in both 6 and 8 pin ports. It requires 2 power connectors 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin. If they are on a single cable that's fine, unless it's a cheap unit that uses too small gauge wire.

Ok. My PSU only came with cables that say VGA on them, are those the cables i'm supposed to use for my graphics card? If so, how many of them? One of the ends is 8-pin, the other end is 6+2 pin (on the same cable).

Ok, maybe I was a little confusing. My PSU is the EVGA SuperNova G2 750w PSU. In the manual, it says it comes with 4x PCI-E 6+2 pin cables, but the actual cables are labeled VGA (not PCI-E, but I believe it's the same cable). Now, one cable has a 6+2 pin end, and its other end is 8 pin. So firstly, I'll plug in the 6+2 end to my graphics card, then plug in the other 8-pin end to my PSU. THEN, I'll get another cable, plug in the 6-pin end (leaving the 2-pins hanging) to my graphics card, and the other 8-pin end to my PSU. So basically, of the cables I have, I need two of them, right? Hopefully I clarified my question. Thanks!

I'm sure you figured it out by now. What was the solution. I'm in the same boat. Same PSU with the 970.

Currently have 2 of the power cords dangling the extra 2 pins.

Also. The Periferal cord goes into any port on the PSU that will fit it, right? This would be for my SSD.

What's weird is that it doesn't match the PSU. The manual says nothing about this label called PATA on the PSU.

I was having the same problem. You only need 1 VGA cable - put the 6+2 pin on the graphic card (gtx 970 has 8 slots so use the rest 2 slots as well from the +2,get it?) and the other 8 pin on the power supply.
