I recently acquired a $400 gift card to best buy (and yes I know everything there is overpriced). Anyway, I have a limit of $600 to get the PC and monitor, I have the mouse and keyboard. I'm looking for something that can run games like counter strike and insurgency plus other source engine games at high graphics. Intel and Nvidia combo would be nice as I find them much easier to work with. The monitor should be at least 60hz and can be from another site as the PC will probably eat up the $400. Thanks for anything you post and the time it spent you to do so.

Dont waste the money. Sell the card. Get on ebay and go after some server board cpu bundles $135- $200. a Decent case $60, 500 watt+ power sup;y $80, 8gb-16 DDR2 $40-80, R9 series redon or Ti Series nvidia $185-265. Or go after the HD7970 GHZ edition trending at $185, And 2 500 gb Seagate or toshiba Hard drives $50 a pice. One for windows and one for gaming directories. look for 4-6 core opteron at minimal 2.6 equiped board. Presto, you just built a machine that an i7 cant even tuch you and leaves room for major upgrades. I have built several. all for around 600. Now i am currently building a dual processor Xenon that is getting 2 Ti series Nvidia sli. I know this sounds un orthodox but when you are done you got a machine worth 2x's + what you paid for it. Yes ddr3 is faster but when you got server ram unbufferd that is more efficient than consumer shit you will be verry pleased. Go after Hynx and only hynx out the gate. Its cheap, fast and afordable. With this combination you will be stomping competition. Not only that but you have double, triple or quad bus streams so you will get the max out of dual + gpu cards. I have built 4 of these set ups. They are rather easy to work around. Just bios has some configureing.
The reason I say to build this is A: you are NEVER going to buy a computer for $600 at Best Buy, You aren't even going to get something decent at wally world for that. But on ebay...... Its like a geeks paradise. B: if you did find a computer forr $600 it will never do what you want it to do and it will come with a 1.8 cpu in it And you will kick your self repeatidly.
With what i just gave you, you will have a machine better than an alien ware rig with ALOT of room to upgrade. at 2.6 you would have 5.2 ghz at 8-12 cores. And the beautiful thing... NO OVER CLOCKING. OVER CLOCKING IS FOR HOBBYIST. Its not safe and the money you will pay just to do it safely you are looking at $1000 minimum to get off the ground and not get allot but alot of heat.

Would you like pictures people that say im wrong and ill advised???? And yes, sell the card... verry possible.
Ive been fixing computers for 10 years and grew up with a computer tech. My computer partner that i run a buisness with is also a physicist that worked on the proton accelerator with 30 years pc under his belt. Combined we have 40 years experience. We both together can build machines that are under your desk super computers. and thats what we use our selfs. I post here to help people now and then. $600 is not a lot to work with. And yes i read your post that is why I said sell the card and build from scratch.
Just at least take this info in account and look at your options. If you are interested i will post all the current selling equipment on eBay and build you a pc on paper and is up to you to decide.

Oh, on last thing before i leave the thread.... I just upgraded an old 775 Vpro machine for 320$ It has: 1.25 Terabyte storage split between 3 drives. One for gaming directories, one for storage and one for windows. A duo quad Q9650 3.0 12 Mb Cache 1333 FSB, 8 GB of Gskill, HD7970 GPU and a 1050 watt bronze power supply. This was a upgrade for my den TV. ant it cost 320$ to upgrade. Dell says this cant be done and it got done..... Its playing Crysis, watch dogs, Sleeping dogs and project cars flawlessly. Your imagination has no bounds with Pc's people. Dont nay say the things that are possible and never sell your self short. Good day.

Money ram driver the computer you linked ^^
Is not bad. It IS however bad for $600 it would be a web browsing computer it died not have a GPU. Last time I went to a best buy they had plenty of computer parts in which you could build a computer out of and be much better off than that $600 i3 computer

eBay item number: 261797088387 About 40$ per 8 gb. You can go cheaper.$ 25 For 8gb from some Japanese crap but i never heard of them so i did not list.

eBay item number: 301602269088 170$ or a VisionTek 900652 AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 Graphics Card PCI Express x16
eBay item number: 121630458945 $147

There you go. A brand new computer with mostly brand new parts for $605. That is if you go $80 0n the 8gb Hynix And go after the vision tech. Play around in the vidoe card depo. You might want a nvidia ti or GTX so you have Phsx. That board goes up to 6 core a pice Intel® Xeon® Processor X5672 4C 3.20 GHz, 95W, 12M cache, 6.40GT/s QPI, DDR3 1333MHz, HT, Turbo Thats a total of 24 cores 12 are hyper threaded.
So in about a year or so as prices fall up grade. Got extra change on pay day up grade. if any one here dare has the balls to say that there I7 single core rig is going to beat this thing with another 400$ thrown at it is on crack. This set up as it is in power for dollar is rivaling a 1500$+ machine at Best Buy. These things are always there. This was the only Board i could find economically that has a X16 2.0 slot. Plenty of X8. So secondary card would have to be x8 preferably. This is a machine like you treat a favorite car. Shes got legs to run and ROOM for upgrades.
Performance in the game world as well dollar by performance is out standing. GOOD LUCK.
Oh and dude that said i was ill advising you..... Check the specs and dollar count! And know this is a budget PC and is why i picked the clases i did.

I did not list Hard drives as i figured you would have one or spare. Secondly you could spend $60 on two decent hard drives or less. If you could afford thrownig an extra 125 in to this you could get some nice heat sinks with your hard drives. Or go after a water cooling sulution and buy the parts seperatly. Or what ever. That is up to what you want to do for quick extras. But for now this is all you need.

Best thing i found on ebay so far. Try amazon as well. But a board like this is definatly upgradable in curent standards. have one like this my self that 6 core xeons are going in with a ti nvidia.
