Hello everyone & thank you for taking a look at my thread.

So, i got 3x WD Red (NAS) WD30EFRX (3TB each) and i want to setup raid 5 on my pc.

The idea is, i want to use it to store my movies/tv-shows/photos/music... (personal use only).

My OS / programs / games are running on my SSD and i want to setup raid 5 for my HDDs so here's my problem:

On the bios setup (asrock z77 extreme 4) it asks me how should my SATA controllers act: as IDE, AHCI, or Raid. what should i use? to keep my SSD running as my main storage for OS/programs & have a raid running at the same time?

I have 2 SATA controllers on this mobo,
I don't use the ASMedia one since it's not recommended and can't properly boot from it (only 2 slots anyway)
The rest is Intel® Z77 (2x SATA 3 and 4xSATA 2)
That's where i want to setup my raid on SATA 2

what should i do 1st and what should i do next?
please walk me through it.

OS: Win 8 (x64)

Cpu: Intel i7 3770K

MB: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4

RAM: Corsair XMS3 CMX8GX3M2A2000C9 (4x 4GB @2000Mhz 9-10-9-27)

V-Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770, GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5

PSU: Everest 85 PLUS 700w

HDD: 3x WD Red (NAS) WD30EFRX (3TB each)

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO (250GB)

yes, sadly i didn't understand much from it, as far as i understood, if i'll choose the "raid option" in the bios, i won't be able to use my SSD as an AHCI disk... my system will be built for raid & raid only and i'm afraid to experiment.

This might help:

http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/52704-asrock-z77-extreme4-2-80-intel-raid-uefi-how-use.html

There are a ton of links on the internet about the RAID setup on this motherboard. Just Google it mate ;)

again, thanks for the reply, i really appreciate the help and the effort: but still that post (and everything that i did search for) doesn't answer my question, which is:
Can i keep using my SSD as my main disk for running my OS / programs even that i have raid system? (both of them on the same controller)
and if yes, how can i do it. if not, what are my options.

No problem friend. I used to use HP servers and never had issues, so don't really know what to suggest.
The ONLY thing I can suggest are these links below:
