My specs
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz
GPU: GTX 550Ti Asus Edition
Ram: 3GB DDR2 800Mhz
HDD: 320GB

Can i run GTA V at the lowest setting, i know that the game says 4GB minimum but ive gotten away with less than minimum before. Thanks for reading my question!

Solution
I'm playing it on my HD 4000 laptop with a dual core i5 CPU (with HT) which is nowhere near a 550ti. The thing is, I have 8 GB of DDR3 with 512 MB dedicated to the GPU and another 1,248 available to the GPU. With your setup, you should be able to run it in DX 11 with medium detail in 1080p IF you installed at least another 3GB of RAM or ideally upped it to 8 GB which is probably your limit anyway. I know my Q6600 on a P43 board could only handle up to 8 GB (4x 2GB) of DDR2. Your main problem is definitely RAM right now. Even if you are running the game in low settings in a low resolution like 720p, you will still probably be consuming around 2 GB of RAM maybe more leaving very little for anything else and might cause a crash or a blue...

Minimum system requirements are posted for a reason. Imagine how you'd feel if someone here states, "Yeah, I'm running the game on just 3GB of RAM and low settings". You go out and spend $60 on the game, only to get it home, installed and then the game doesn't run. You complain to Rockstar games (and probably the person here who said it could run) or you come here asking for help and the first thing anyone is going to say is update your system to meet the system requirements.

First calm down I'm not going to complain to Rockstar because my PC wont play there buggy game. Second I have seen builds on YouTube play this game with only 2gb of ram and my same CPU. If i have 3gb of ram and the same CPU as the video then it should work. It doesn't really matter if i can run it or not i was asking now for future purposes.

I wouldnt believe anything I saw on YouTube. That PC or similiar ones like it, wont run GTA V period. You might load the main menu, but after that it would be a slideshow of epic proportions. Why would you ask now for future purposes? Are you upgrading? Great. Ask then.

There are also a bunch of trolls on YouTube that post videos with fake specs. And there is always a sucker that believes them. The game uses a lot of ram and will have lag spikes even on systems with 4gb. Not sure i'd call it buggy works just fine on my rig and many others. It's been one if the smoother AAA game releases I've seen for awhile. It uses a lot of cpu and ram but that is to be expected for such a massive good looking open world environment.

Ok, so it doesn't apply to you. What about the (hypothetical) 15 year old kid who reads this thread tomorrow?
