I would like to build a PC soon but would need some help on what to buy. My limit is around $1500 but am willing to go somewhat over. I like to game as well as stream and wanna get into editing. I wanna have an i7 with a motherboard that can SLI. I would also like 16GB of RAM. SSD would also be nice along with a 1 or 2 TB Hard Drive (7200 RPM). Would I need a sound card for mic clarity? (streaming). I think that's everything. Any ideas? Thanks!

I will also need:

  • Keyboard
    Mouse
    Monitor
    OS

you dont need an i7 for gaming , and you dont need 16 gig of RAM .
Its better to spend the money on things that will add real performance .

nice choice on the SSD, however, that board doesn't support PCIe 2.0 X 4 on an M.2 socket which is what the XP941 is capable of. as far as i know, the Extreme6 is one of the few boards that does. also, OP wishes to stream/edit as well, and for those uses the i7 or even (dare i say) FX 8350 along with 16 GB of RAM would be beneficial.

if your budget can stretch a bit, this is what i recommend:

the motherboard has excellent onboard sound card (as well as many other features), so no need to buy one. the 120 GB 850 EVO with RAPID mode actually rivals the speed of M.2 and actually beats a Raid 0 config. the 27" IPS display is great for editing. and the keyboard mouse combo probably isn't the best, but back lit combo for $30 is a great deal.

This is perfect! If I deduct the monitor and just use my old one for a little bit, then it comes out to pretty much $1500! Thank you very much!

The SATA SSD is much slower than the Samsung M.2 drive. 6 GBits/s vs 10 GBits/s . Most likely the SATA drive will top out around 540 Mbits/s and the M.2 drive reach the full 10 Gbits/s available
The M.2 could be even faster on a few other boards but they are rare .
Any storage drive can be potentially faster using a RAM Drive . Samsung rapid mode sets that up for you.
