How can I switch from my CPU to my GPU?

I have a brand new Msi Gp60 Leopard 8.00 Go RAM and intel core i5-4210H CPU 2.90GHz 64x.

Everything works fine with it except on thing.

My cpu temperature is fine but when I launch Minecraft, it peaks to 72 degrees. That is, I think, a problem. My GPU temperature stays at 45 degrees.

The problem is that sometimes, while playing Minecraft, the screen will go totally black (probably because CPU can't handle minecraft graphics).

I managed to switch to my nvidia geforce 840m once. The CPU temperature didn't peak at all and it worked fine. I don't know how I did that, though.

What I actually want is to be able to switch on the nvidia graphic card if the cpu temperature goes too high. Is that possible?

The onboard should ONLY be used (automatically) when your in 2D, that is desktop, web surfing, running Word and if you play Minecraft through a webpage.
The 840m is a LOW END card and not made for gaming. It would autodetect and switch to RENDER 3D but it won't "improve" alot because it doesn't have much in the way of 'capability' more to make sure your Netflix runs smooth, Angry Birds plays okay and so on. As you can see here unless you put it at the lowest screen resolutions, lowest graphics settings your still getting crappy FPS.. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-840M.105681.0.html

Your best solution would be to use this for your school work / casual games, then get a PS4 if you want some decent FPS, graphics display and screen size (1080P High?). Yes the temps are VERY BAD, and shouldn't even be that close, you might want to use canned air on the ports or bring this laptop in for servicing, but again, it would still overheat when you push it beyond it's capabilities.

Honorable

Source?!

Lithium batteries can supply hundreds of amps, the power supply can't.

Here are more explanations about my problem.

When I play minecraft, I press the escape button to open the game menu. Then I go to the washroom but when I'm back, the screen has gone black. I found some tricks to "fix" it. I put fix in quotes because these tricks works sometimes and sometimes not.

I press the button to switch the display on a tv or a monitor then press that button again to bring the image back. Sometimes works and sometimes not.

I pressed a button that seems to shut the screen on/off. Sometimes it brings the image back and sometimes not.

I tried moving my laptop screen forward and back, changing the angle it has with the keyboard. Sometimes, the image is back and sometimes not.

I changed the texture pack I was using for Minecraft for a 64x. I had a 128x before. The problem still occurs.

Sometimes the screen wil go black if I stand still in the game for a few seconds and even if I'm actually moving.

It also started occurring while playing Skyrim. Pressing the escape button to show the game menu, the screen will go black if I don't do anything for a few seconds.
Also happening if I open the game console to enter cheat codes. If I do not close the console after a few seconds, the screen goes black.

This happens also when I'm browsing. Simply not moving the mouse for a few seconds and the screen goes black.

Until now, it did not happened while being just on the desktop.

My laptop will be 4 months old May 1rst (counting since the day I bought it).

This never occured before a few days ago. I was playing Minecraft with a texture pack 128x and not having any problems.

Could this be occurring because I did not shut down my computer before bringing it in the car for a two hours trip and using it on the road (no i was not driving the car)? I renember the highway was a bit bumpy and my screen was shaking forward and back.

There is potential you may have FUBAR the cabling connecting tot he screen, YES unless it is a ruggerized laptop NO it would not do well (offroading etc.) in conditions OUTSIDE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE.

That said I think more likely it is your POWER SETTINGS, most likely your set to POWER SAVING, which would turn off the screen to save power. Simply go to control panel then power settings, choose the HIGH PERFORMANCE settings, then follow the left side to CHOOSE what happens when you close the lid, press the power button and so on. Make it match up to your needs. REMEMBER this means when on BATTERY it will eat up the battery ALOT FASTER than as advertised it would perform.

Here are a couple of things I did:

I thought about a bad driver update.
So I managed to get my nvidia back from before the last nvidia update, which was for GTA 5. Still, the problems occurs.

I asked some experienced friends and they told me that the temperature my cpu was getting to was normal. They also told me that laptops are made to be portables, so they are made to be used while on the road. They are made to resists to minor bumps you can get on the road.

Here is my question:

Should I try restoring my pc to an old system save? Like a few months ago? And if I do that, can it solve my problem? Will I lose sone important data such as school works?

Thanks for answers

You can't go back months, backup restore points are only for 30 days or else your drive would be filled with restore points than with your data.
Not if the /Power Setting/ (as I pointed you to which does this very thing) were also set at that point as well so no it wouldn't make a difference.
You came on here asking for solutions, we are trying to point you to them, but instead your asking your /friends/ what do to.
Please select your source to rely on for solutions and not try making /they/ vs /they/ discussion. I provided some steps and you have not chosen to follow them, I would then suggest then if your listening to your friends, ask them to fix your computer for you and don't post here. We will just confuse you more it seems if you continue here.
