Hello folks,

I've been having some issues ever since I updated my AMD Catalyst drivers to the most recent. (At least that's what I think I did.) <.< Now when I boot the computer up regularly, the monitor loses it's signal after the initial boot screen and windows logo show up. (Pretty much as soon as it makes the "bling." sound, that it's about to boot, the signal is lost. (I've typed in my password and hit enter and it then makes the sound that it's logging in, so It's purely visible. I've tried different monitors, checking plugs, rebooting, uninstalling the drivers in safe mode and reinstalling.

(If I uninstall the catalyst wit one of those AMD uninstallers, then reboot, I can load in in normal mode, with no issue, but if I install the video drivers, it happens all over again. I've tried different versions, and am still trying to go further back now, but this is a major drag... won't be able to play GTA V without the most recent beta-driverse, or so I've heard.)

Would appreciate any help, while I fumble around and try and fix this.

I've had no problems prior to this, since I built the computer last year.

I just recently picked up a standalone GPU (R9 280X), was planning on doing some benchmarking with my current setup and then adding the R9 and seeing how great of an improvement it is. I've also got another processor, that I'm considering swapping out my current one for, though I'm not 100% on that. (It's an AMD X4 860K.)

Appreciate any help or advice, thanks!

Sincerely, new to the site,

Solution
where did you plug in the monitor? Motherboard or R9 280X?

is the R9 still installed or did you remove it?

which motherboard is it?
reset BIOS (clear cmos by jumper, see manual how to), eventually you have to correct the boot priority after that
