Hello,

I'm managing a small network with a core switch and two VLANs.

Recently, I had encountered an issue where only one VLAN at a time is working.
If VLAN1 is working, VLAN2 is down and vice versa.

I had checked the connections and configs are as they were when both VLANs were working.
I initially thought that someone could have plugged in an router of that might have DHCP features.

Would appreciate pointers on what could be going wrong.

Thanks!

are these layer 2 or 3 vlans?
how are you separating them?
are individual switchports assigned different vlans?
are they addressed separately?
should dhcp be active on either vlan?
do you have any trunking going on?

need a lot more information.

Hi Fil.

Thanks for your response.

Gave me time to check on the details as the person who had this before did not have much documentation.

Nonetheless, this has been resolved.

One of the switches of the VLAN that went down was the cause.
It had to be replaced and the issue has been resolved.

Thanks!
