I've just decided to test The Sims 3 under a 64-bit OS and am being hampered by not having the right drivers for my system.

As above, it's a Dc7800 in the SFF and I'm currently running XP 32-bit on the machine I'm posting this with.

The x64 XP is on a separate hard drive, and I have to swap cables to boot each separately [If anyone can tell me how to dual-boot, I'd really appreciate it].

Anyway, I'm looking for drivers fro the dc7800 that x64 XP will accept. That's likely a tall order.

Even more so, now that the HP page that originally had all the drivers seems to have vanished.

I managed to get a compatible driver for my R7 240 from the ASUS site, so the only real issue is the sound.

I'm sure I can pick up a PCI Sound card on the cheap if need be, but would like to try getting drivers for the on-board first.

It's also looking for motherboard drivers, USB 2.0 I think, and Ethernet too.

The network doesn't bother me, as I'm not using it, but I don't want performance to suffer because certain motherboard or USB drivers aren't installed.

Any help with these would be good.

At the moment, I've just downloaded the XP Sound Drivers, as well as all the Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers to see if the sound will work for them.

On the site, the only other OS supported are Windows 7 and 2000, as well as FreeDOS.

If none of the drivers work, I'll just skip it and get a sound card.

But there's still the Chipset drivers.

I'll try the same strategy as before, until one works. If not, I'll just live with it.

Just tried all the supportable downloads for the audio and none work.

At the moment, I have several things coming up in Device Manager.

I've included the Device Id, if that helps.

Okay, just installed three of the four files you linked to.

Here's how it looks now:

TREE: COMPUTER>OTHER DEVICES

1. Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1884&SUBSYS_103C2818&REV_1001\4&1BBAF9C7&0&0001

2. Ethernet Controller

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10BD&SUBSYS_2818103C&REV_02\3&B1BFB68&0&C8

TREE: COMPUTER>SYSTEM DEVICES

3. Intel(R) Management Engine Interface

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B4&SUBSYS_2818103C&REV_02\3&B1BFB68&0&18

I've tried installing all the downloads from the hp site for the audio,
by themselves and with the update before. The update says it's not for
this OS and everytime I go to install the ADI sound drivers, it bombs
out at the end saying 'ADI Codec failed' or something similar.

I'm thinking of just writing it off, disabling the audio in the BIOS
and Device Manager if need be, and buying a cheap PCI Sound Card off
of eBay to do the job. But I need to know that if I buy such a card
that I'm not going to be faced with the same problem of there not
being a XP x64 driver for it, so if anyone knows of a sound card
on eBay that there is a x64 driver for, can you please provide
links? I'm in NSW, Australia so something local would be nice,
but if it's overseas I will buy it if I must.

The page for the network drivers says it's only for Itanium processors, and I don't have one of those.
My understanding was that there were two different types of XP 64-bit: one that was designed for Itanium
specifically, and the other a 'normal' type. I have this 'normal' type and my CPU is a Core 2 Duo. But if
you say it will work in your next post, then I will try it.

Just installed the files from the links you provided:

Here's how it looks:

TREE: COMPUTER>OTHER DEVICES

1. Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1884&SUBSYS_103C2818&REV_1001\4&1BBAF9C7&0&0001

TREE: COMPUTER>SYSTEM DEVICES

2. Intel(R) Management Engine Interface

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B4&SUBSYS_2818103C&REV_02\3&B1BFB68&0&18

I installed the file named 'LMS_SOL_Win2k_allXP_Vista32_5.2.0.1019_PV', but
the above Management device is still persisting.

I've tried the audio drivers from the 'Analog_Device_SoundMAX_6.10.02.6585' folder
inside the download.

When I double click on setup, it bombs out with 'This operating system is not
supported by this software' and if i double click asusSetup file it says 'Does not
support this operating system : WNT_5.2P'. I've also tried searching for it in
every folder by selecting Update Driver for the device in Device manager and it
can't find it.

I think I might have to write this one off and buy a PCI sound card.
