Hello!

I have a problem...a few days ago I have tried to install windows 8 on my computer...everything went ok, until the sistem restarts...now it's stuck on the bios splash screen. And it won't go anywhere, not in bios, not in boot section...nowhere...
when I remove the hdd (sata2) from the computer, it works.
But the problem is I don't have any other hdd to set any operation sistem on and I don't have any other computer to connect my hdd on, if I would try, if it works on other computers, or if I would like it to format it...
Because I think the hdd is ok, in the splash screen it says capable and status ok.

My hdd is SATAII western Digital green 500gb
motherboard: asrock wolfdale1333-d667

what should I do?

Welcome to the community, Pe3ca!

I'm very sorry to hear about your issues with the assembling of your system. :(
Since you don't have another computer to test the HDD on, I'd totally follow @logainofhades's advice and reset BIOS.
Here are a couple of other methods you can use as well, in case you cannot find the CMOS battery. Keep in mind that this will get your BIOS settings back to factory default.

Keep us posted with the results. I hope the BIOS reset fixes your issue! :)

You are all very nice to help me...but I tried clearing CMOS and I tried another SATA port but with no luck...
I have only an wd external portable hdd...but can I use that to install the drive of the PC on?

Is your BIOS set to boot to the Windows installation media? In other words, it is set to boot to DVD or USB before hard drive? What happens when you have your DVD/USB connected and the hard drive connected and try to boot?

By the way - Your external portable hard drive is just a housing around a hard drive so you could possibly take the hard drive out of the housing and connect it inside your PC and try to install to that. As long as there is nothing on the external you need to keep!

My BIOS is set to CD/DVD but I tried with every option. The fact is that when the hdd is connected it freezes on POST.
I tried with my external drive and it worked. I would like to try to set the PC hard drive into the external and connect it to my laptop, but I guess I need an power adapter...well I think tomorrow I will go to the store and buy a new hdd :)

I have exactly the same problem on 2 HDD, each after FreeBSD installation!
Both HDD were OK before FreeBSD installation on whole partition.
I use MS-7181 version 10.
Clearing CMOS, disabling boot from HDD doesn't help and unfortunately I don't have possibility to format HDD on another computer.
Upgrading BIOS from 1.1 to 3.1 and clearing CMOS didn't help and starting hangs after HDD detection each time any of these 2 disks is connected :(
The only what helps is either unplugging these HDD or turning IDE1 in BIOS (previosly making them unplugged)
I am 100% sure it is caused somehow by FreeBSD installation...
Please, HELP
