Hello, I hope someone can shed some light on my problems I honestly don't know what else to try. Here are my specs:

CPU: Phenom I I X6 2.7ghz
Ram:8gb ddr3
GPU: r9 270 2gb
Psu: antec 550w

My story pretty much is that I upgraded from a 4850 to a sapphire r9 270 that I got from a friend. It worked well for about a month but now it just boots to a black screen. Sometimes after a few restarts it boots into windows and I can use it just fine. Here's what I tried so far:

1. Cleared the cmos

2. Reset bios to default values and set graphics in bios to PCIE(on the rare occasion that I could see anything on my monitor)

3. Tried my old 4850 but it now has the same issue.

4. Tried booting with 1 stick of ram. Nothing.

5.Rechecked all connections and tried new GPU connector I had laying around.

At this point I have no idea what it could be. Why did it work for a month and just stop? I'm guessing it's a PSU problem. I typed this on my phone so apologies for any weird formatting. Any help would be appreciated.

A 270 is a bit of a load for a 550 watt PSU especially if it is not 80 PLUS gold. that could be the answer. Is your motherboard as old as that 4850? if so it may be the culprit but that is not as likely. Is there anyway you could test with a different powersupply?
