Hi all.

I've purchased another 980 for my current build(In my Sig), planning to put it in SLI, I also purchased the Rog Swift 27Inch Monitor.

I have a few questions if you can answer them please!

1. Do you think I need to get water cooling for my system SEE PICS ----> http://puu.sh/hjKBg/7b08cc8d23.jpg My current card location in my case... Planning on putting the other card below it immediately on the next available slot.

By my calculations, installing the card in the first avail slot, will go right to the middle of the last slow, just above my OC genie overclock button.

Should I expect bad temperatures etc? Will I have issues with this.
I've ordered 3 extra fans, a 200mm for the top, and two 140mm that will sit right in front of the card at the moment.

2. What should I expect in terms of performance with SLI on the Rog Swift with my current build?
Gta5? BF4? upcoming games etc.

3. Is my PSU sufficient for 980's sli?

4. Is there anything I must do to make sure my system doesn't die cause of temperatures ?

5. If your suggestion is for Water cooling.. can you link me to a basic starting set? and tutorial?

6. anything else I should know with the transition to SLI(First time) & Owning the Rog Swift?

hope you can help.. Cheers!

Solution
That PSU is perfectly fine for GTX 980 SLI which actually only calls for 750w, making 850w the perfect choice as we like to see 100w over recommended to keep the PSU from ever being near capacity or needing to "put it's back into it".

As for liquid cooling, that's largely a personal choice, based on your preference of aesthetics and wallet. A good air cooler would be fine. If you do go with liquid cooling, do NOT go with any Corsair cooler ending in "i" and do NOT use anything smaller than a 240mm unit or you're just wasting your money, at least, in my opinion based on what I see regularly here and my own experiences building systems. The I-series units with the link management...

Entomber

Admirable
1. you shouldn't need water cooling
2. maxed out @ 144FPS
3. it'll run, probably, but I would upgrade that PSU if I were you
4. your system won't die because of temperatures as long as you have sufficient case airflow. If you haven't already, buy some case fans
5. n/a
6. make sure you activate SLI in your driver control panel

Thanks for the reply! Upgrade the PSU? I only just bought the PSU and was told it was good, is this going to be an issue with SLI?

With your proposed fan set up and proper fan profiles water cooling is not necessary.

You should expect high to ultra settings for most games. 60fps

Your power supply is a great unit that will be fine.

you may need to set up custom fan profiles for the video cards as the top one will run hotter than the bottom card. Its intake air will be preheated by the bottom card ,so set the fan speed a little more aggressive.
MSI afterburner or EVGA precision X are very good programs for this.
Make sure you update and enable SLI profiles in the Nvidia control panel
And most of all enjoy your set up and don't worry.

The I-series units with the link management package seem to underperform and are problematic. I recommend one of the Swiftech coolers or the Cooler Master Nepton 240m or 280m.

A good air cooler like the Noctua NH-U14S, NH-D14 or D15 or Cryorig R1 Ultimate or Universal would probably be fine.
