How much of an improvement would there be if I upgraded my integrated GeForce 8200 to a GeForce GT 640? I want to run TF2, Minecraft, and other basic games. I would hope to run Battlefield 3 on low?

Current Specs:
4GB DDR2 RAM
AMD Phenom 9500 x4 at 2.2 GHz
Windows 8.1 64bit
450 watt PSU (don't know what brand it is)
GeForce 8200 Integrated Graphics

Is a GT 640 worth it? I'm not looking to max out AAA games, I just want to run decent games at mid-low.

Solution
A GT 640 in Battlefield 3 at High settings will get around 30-35 fps, at low it should be playable.
4GB of RAM, especially DDR2 will cause performance issues in BF3.
The CPU will cause fps drops in Battlefield too.

Ah ok. Right now, I can't even run it on low or it'll look like a slideshow so I guess that's a huge improvement :)

When I said the card should be playable at low settings, I meant with a decent CPU and 8GB RAM. You will see an improvement but my old i5 2320 @ 3.3Ghz struggled to hold 60fps and yours is AMD and is only clocked at 2.2Ghz, could you overclock?

Phenom 9500 x4 2.2ghz ? Are you running a AM2/AM2+ board and are you overclocking? Your CPU is holding you back in most titles, here would be a decent cheap upgrade that you can Overclock really easy.

Asus M4A785-M, Phenom II X4 920 2.8ghz, & 4x2GB G.Skill F2-6400CL5D "800mhz" $80 The CPU will O.C to 3.5ghz and RAM to 1066 without to much fuss.

You can Resell what you have for around $50

640 GT IS a very low end card the price range depends on the Ram, $75-$119 seems high for the FPS you get, for the same price you can get a R7 260X which is a very nice card that handles 1080p in most titles.

Other Cards to Consider

MSI Radeon HD 7770 $65 - Used but a faster overall card, still does very nice.

PowerColor AX R7 250 2G "HD 7750 Rebranded" $70 "New from Newegg"

I'm running an AM2/AM2+ mobo but when it comes to overclocking, I can only reach about 2.5 GHz without the computer crashing.

I like the sound of that CPU you've got there. I'll consider it.
