Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a new I7-4790K, and an MSI Z97-G43 motherboard. I installed them without reinstalling windows. So, to be short, I started getting BSOD when playing games. Even temperatures on HW Monitor went up and down, my cpu shot up from 35 to 50 degrees in 1 second. So, I reinstalled windows, and temp readings were perfect, and all was good. But, then I saw the readings change again, and I got BSOD.
Everything is new inside the rig, except thee RAM and video card. But they never caused trouble. Could it be the motherboard?
I'm really curious.

Could be a multitude of things. The temperature I would not worry about. I would test the RAM out first, if you are running 2 sticks, try running with each of the sticks separately. Or if you have spare ram or ram you can borrow from someone try putting it into your system instead of your own sticks. Or the more tedious way is to run memtest86 overnight on your system to check out the ram. If the test displays anything, then you have faulty ram most likely.

If you figure out that the ram is not the problem, then we have to look at the motherboard next. Try to update the bios through the manufacturer's website. If that doesn't work then try flashing the bios by removing the battery in the motherboard. If all of that fails, then I would try to RMA it.

If all else fails, then we would have to sadly blame the CPU.
