Hello,

I have a problem, similar to other threads regarding not working USB, but perhaps more complicated, because the USB devices at my PC do not work even in Safe mode (but work in UEFI). I am looking for help, would appreciate every advice very much.

The problem arose after a new installation of Win7 (the old system hdd went corrupt so I bought a new one and made a new installation yesterday).

Everything worked fine during and after Win7 installation, but after downloading and installing the USB 3.0 drivers from asrock.com the system required restart, and after the restart mouse and keyboard simply did not work anymore. I did several restarts, tried Safe mode, but any USB´s did not work (however both mouse and keyboard work in UEFI).

Also, DVD-ROM does not work, so I can not repair the installation.

My configuration:
ASRock H87 Pro4 LGA1150 + Intel Core i3
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Thank you for advice, how to de-install the drivers without mouse and keyboard.

Peter

After tweaking with USB configuration in UEFI, that did not deliver any change in USB operation within Win7, I decided to try the last possibility I could think of with my common sense. I found in a box of PC trash an old PS2 mouse, and plug it in. Hopefuly it worked, so I tried to uninstall the fatal USB3.0 drivers (Intel USB 3.0 driver ver:2.5.0.19). Did not succeed. Finally I decided to go for a new installation of Win7, that went well.
I will certainly avoid installing the USB3.0 drivers again, but don´know which drivers to install instead, to make use of the full potential of USB3.0 ports in the computer. Thanks for any advice.

The best drivers to install are those from the hardware vendor (in your case ASROCK.) but some times you need to update your drivers (could be a compatibility issue or new features which are added in the new driver update, and you need to install it from the device vendor (if it is Intel USB3.0, you download it from the Intel website).

From where did you get yours? If you installed them from the CD/DVD which came with the mainboard they maybe outdated, and you have previously updated the BIOS (and can cause issue with old drivers - keep in mind the drivers which came on the CD/DVD are not updated).

In case of a discrete graphics card, EVGA, Palit and others do not provide the latest driver updates, so you would need to download them from NVIDIA, but the safest ones would be from EVGA, Palit (or the Graphics card maker) Your issue is not video card related, but I am using this example to further explain my suggestion.

Drivers for your mainboard:

Choose the correct Operating System, and download the intel USB3.0 driver. Also check if you have any unknown/missing drivers on device manager.
Also avoid driver updates from Windows Updates. I have encountered issues when installing driver updates from Windows Updates.
To disable Driver update installation from Windows update do the following:

These instructions work on all Windows 7, 8, 8.1 versions and editions (including 32-bit and 64-bit).
