Temperature issues, FX-8350

Hi, I had bought this little guy about 3 mos ago.
I run prime95's blend test, and the maximum temperature is 72C, lowest temperature is 26C.
I'm using it's stock cooler as a temporary cooler on 4.00Ghz @1.384Vcore, and I'm planning to buy NOCTUA D14 or D15 but the 72C gave me such a problem. I know having a stock cooler is not a good decision for this FX cpu.

I have some questions:

1) Is this temp/issue is normal? If no, what can be the possible problem?
2) Is Noctua D14/D15 will be perfect for my set-up?

Here's my specs.

FX-8350
MSI 970 Gaming
Aerocool Strike-X One Adv
6 Chassis fan(3int-3ext)
Aerocool Strike-X 800W Modular 80+ Silver PSU

Solution
You should consider watercooling your CPU, since your case supports it. A cooler master h110i will get the job done, and will allow you to overclock further.

If not,

The noctua NH-U9S will be able to keep those temps under control. Its 125mm tall, so no problem there. If you add another noctua fan (NF-A9) to it it should probably be what you are looking for!!! With only one fan, it was able to keep an i5 4690k @ 4.0Ghz at 60C under full load, so with dual...

I just made a research and found out that Noctua D14 and D15 is not compatible with my chassis, only 158mm below (without side panel), so to be safe I must find a decent cpu cooler below 140mm. Maybe you have some recommendations?

Can't use the 212 evo or X cause it will not fit on my casing. I'm using Aercool strike x one with a clearance of 158mm without side panel fan, so to be sure I need a cpu cooler atleast 140mm or below. I appreciate your suggestion, btw. :D

That voltage is a tad high, try undervolting a bit. 1.35v, then 1.3v until it's unstable, then go back up in voltage a notch.

My 8320E does 4Ghz at 1.265v so a 8350 would get by with a little higher voltage, but 1.38v seems overkill.

Thats a nice advice, do that first but if it is not stable though get the noctua in the link I sent

By the way creme, wat cooler are you using on your fx 8320e?

I'm using an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, if I'm remembering right. Great cooler, idle temps of 17º, I have to check now that the weather has improved a bit. Rendering video it goes to early 40s.

I still throttles from time to time, because of the socket temp I think (I put heatsinks on the vrms), I need to improve the airflow, because when I opened my case it solved the issue (there was a lot of hot air inside, I need to extract it).

Nice mate, good luck
The C14 is a good cooler, does its job and is quiet but check if it can fit your case though

Fails at 1.264v, now at 1.296v, currently blending on prime95.

Noctua C14's height is 130mm with dual fan. I hope it will fit in my casing even if it has a side panel fan. *cross-fingers*

maybe that voltage will work, if not ill go 1.325v

Vcore at 1.312-1.320V runs stable for almost 32mins now with 65C max

Btw for my cpu cooler, I think C14 is a bit huge and gonna reduce the air flow inside the casing, maybe I will switch to L12 of Noctua for overclocking atleast 4.5ghz. :bounce:

Nice hope it is good
And sorry to tell you coming from the Noctua site "The NH-L12 is a low-profile quiet cooler designed for use in small form factor cases and HTPC environments. While it provides first rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and should be used with care on CPUs with more than 95W TDP"
NH l12 is a no no for fx 8350

Noctua NH-u12S is slightly bigger (wider and longer, not higher), and if it is compatible with your setup (Tall RAM heat spreaders may be a problem), will be even better than the NH-u9S.

Nice help from Chayan4400, the cpu towers i think u should neglect them since u cnt even get a cpu like hyper 212 evo or noctua's tall coolers. Might as well look into water cooler for overclocking, dont break your budget though.

Well it looks like H55 and 60 should be OK for OCing but idk if you can get 4.6ghz.
If you are a young person, no job, im guessing, maybe u can combine your money with your parents, or whoever to get a H80i, just a suggestion I would do that with my parents or older relative. Don't need to bankrupt my self right :)
