2gb + 4gb causes my pc freeze

Hello guys so today ive bought a 4 GB Ram ddr3 1600mhz and installed it with my 2gb on it = 6 gb

It opens it shows the foxconn logo then it freezes and i have to force close it!

Can anyone help me? also with the 4 gb ram the Windows are crashing instantly!

Your board says it doesn't support that speed, if you take it out does it work OK?

My currect memory has 1333 mhz! you think thats what it causes it??

In a perfect world the mobo would lower the clock speed to match your slowest memory, I would try it with just the new sticks, then try it with the old sticks, the old sticks would most likely work, when you buy memory its important to make sure it matches.

Reinforcing what PapaWood said, the manual (available in the Tech support portion of the page that was linked) they have the following: "It is recommended that memory of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used and please select dual channel first to achieve optimum performance."

Typically MBs can support slower memory, but not faster without OCing the memory controller, so even if you use a different brand of memory, you cannot exceed the max the board supports.

*UPDATE* I Formatted my computer to win 7 64 bit and everything worked out but now i have a new problem! it sees 6 gb of ram BUT only 3.30gb is usable! i tried the msconfig thingy and nothing! changed the slots but still! please help me

go to START > type MSCONFIG > Enter > BOOT > ADVANCED > ensure Max Memory is checked

Are you sure you installed 64bit windows?

So the new memory, is that 2 2gb sticks? and you had 2 1gb sticks already? might be in the wrong order?

PW - That board only has 2 memory slots - He has a single 4GB + a single 2GB stick

Gotcha, hrmmm. does the BIOS recognize 6bs?

Personally if it as me I would return the new memory and get the correct speed, really ideally both of those sticks should be identical, same size, same speed same timings, even more same brand same model same everything.

Clear the CMOS.

Download the manual and it explains how to do so.

Then you won't be sitting there frozen.

Well it stopped freezing but the memory remaping is now disabled and i still have 3.30gb usable pls help me! if i let the 4gb ram without the 2gb stick the windows crash in loading....when i put them both it dosent but it shows 3.30GB ..... if i change os to win 8 it will fix it?

And also i tested the ram on my friends computer and it dosent show any usable but my friend has windows 7 ultimate i have home premium
