I just installed a new SSD as a SECOND drive in my computer, The windows recovery partition is on my still installed old HDD. I used the windows utility to make a thumb drive recovery partition and on another thumb drive have recovery "installation media" downloaded from Microsoft.

I don want to migrate my whole HDD to the SSD. Can I use either of these thumb drives to fresh install Windows on the new SSD and just use my old activation code? I know I'll have to re-install all my programs but I would rather do that with a fresh install if this will work.

Thanks.

I do want to reinstall windows but on the New SSD, not the OEM HDD that the partition came from. They are both installed. DO I download that to the thumb drive or the target drive?

My windows is currently active on the HDD, to I need to wipe that before installing on the SSD with the same code?

I'm pretty sure that is everything, thanks.

Okay, I ended up resetting the HDD then migrating the OS and partition to the SSD with AOMEI. Is it now safe to reformat the HDD as I have windows OS an d Partition twice? Should I only format the HDD recovery partition and OS partition ?

HDD now Shows 1000MB Recovery Partition 250 MB EFI System Partition 500MB OEM Partition 905.25 GB Windows *OS Boot Page file crash dump primary partition. 24.41 MB recovery partition

SSD 500 MB Recovery 81MB EFI System 311MB Primary, 217 GB Windows *OS Primary 14.09 Recovery

If you could just tell me what it is fase to remove from th eHDD (and why are there two primaries on the SSD) I actually think I can take it from here. After migrating the recovery if I have any problems I should be able to factory reset from the SSD now correct?

Thanks
