Bought 16gb Crucial Ballistix DDR 1866 for GA-Z97M-Gaming 5 - board only supports 1600/1333

HI everyone,

My build is the following:

Mobo: -GA-Z97M-Gaming 5 - Latest F4 bios pre-installed.
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k 1150 LGA
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Gaming Memory
Video Card - Existing Geforce GTX 650 Ti OC

Been a while since I did a new build. But I thought my board supported 1866 ram due to online listed specs, but after reviving the board today I notice the manual and the bios itself only supports 1600/1333mhz ram. The 1866 ram reads as 1333 mhz. Is this going to hurt me in the long run and should I return the modules for 1600's or will I be ok? Or am I an idiot and over looking these XMP's?

I've notice a big problem with the update as well, I kept the same graphics cards (couldn't afford the complete upgrade sadly) but I'm seeing a huge bottle neck compared to the card being in an old pci-express 2.0 with a first gen i7 compared to this. It's rather disappointing. On my old build GTA 5 ran at 55 FPS with quite a few settings on high. In the benchmark on the new build I can't get over 31FPS and it constantly stutters at that frame rate. It's doing the same thing in 3DMark, it says my CPU is killing my GPU. I'm clueless at this point, could this be the fault of the ram?

Your CPU can easily handle 1866, should easily handle 2800 or better if you OC the CPU Simply install the DRAM and enable XMP in BIOS, select profile 1 and you are good to go

Thank you Tradesman1, looks like I didn't do enough research that was all to simple. I'm still stuck in 2012!
