I can type actually but at a very low speed---I need to press on the key and hold for 2-3 seconds for the letter to appear on the screen. The same is true to the arrow keys, pageup/pagedown, delete, backspace, space, enter, etc. Almost ever key on my keyboard.

Please give a try with external keyboard to test. if it works good then probably the keyboard is bad if not works with external one then there may be driver issue with the computer..
