Doesn't look like my graphics card is properly seated

Hey, everyone.

I've taken a picture of my graphics card after attempting to put it in its pci-e slot. I've indicated with a red circle a small hole that to me looks out of place and seems as though it should be closed off completely for my graphics card to be fully seated. However, I think something might be weighing down my mobo (probably my cpu cooler) such that part of the graphics card can't be fully seated. I was able to fully screw it in, but like I said, i believe something is weighing down my mobo so the card doesn't hit the bottom of the slot. Could someone without a backplate on their graphics card maybe take a picture of the top of it so I can see whether or not this little hole should or shouldn't be there. Here's my picture: http://

Huge thanks in advance to whoever can post a picture! This is the only thing causing me a lot of stress right now, preventing me from booting my pc for the first time, for fear that something bad will happen.

Solution
Just took apart my computer a bit (Wireless card is right above my graphics card) to get a clearer look.

My graphics card looks exactly as yours pictured, just with a backplate on. (I couldn't get a clear picture with my iphone)

Hopefully your worries will be put to rest =)

I've done a few installs for new GPUs, processors, RAM, ect. I've noticed that even the smallest things that get caught in the dimm slots or PCI-E slots can cause your computer not to start.

Take out your GPU make sure its mounted correctly, and blow air into the PCI-E slot. Do the same for the RAM slots. If still no avail check to see if the fans turn on for your GPU and CPU when you try to boot it up. If not i'd say you got a defective mobo...

ya haha I did, but on my end it still looks so off to me it's bugging me so much so I had to ask again. what will happen if i try to boot with a potentially bad seated card?

Well first off it looks like from the picture provided that its not even correctly seated... Did you hear a slight click when you pushed it in?

Ya i heard a click, but noticed that the pins towards the slot on the card were not straight, leading me to believe part of the card wasnt fully seated. I really wanna see a picture of someone else's card from the same angle.

I literally can't push the card any deeper, i screwed it in fully but it doesn't look right to me. maybe my mobo isn't seated properly? I had to force my mobo over the standoffs a little cuz the crappy i/o shield of the z97-a has these metal things that stick out and push my mobo away from the shield. could that be why?

if i boot up with a poorly seated graphics card, could that cause any, even the slightest damage to my components?

Its not seated poorly. Its installed correctly. Worst thing that can happen is your monitor will display "no signal"

you sir, are amazing. I appreciate it so much, makes me feel safer to boot up. If you see me back here in a few days asking about the same thing, it's because i'll have run into a problem with it upon booting up.
