I bought a new Motorola modem and Netgear router. I installed according to the instructions for each. When I try to connect my Macbook Pro through wifi the Netgear Genie says there is an internet connection issue and won't connect. When I try to connect my Samsung series 7 smart TV it says that it is connected to the network but not the internet. The modem will connect to the TV through LAN, but I want a wireless connection. Does anyone have any ideas on what steps to take to solve this issue?

Thanks

Solution
Unplug power from modem and router. Unplug coax cable from modem.
Wait 2 minutes.
Plug power to modem only.
Plug coax cable to modem.
Wait 2 minutes.
Plug power to router.
Wait 2 minutes.

Make sure the only LAN cable plugged into the modem is going to the router. Any LAN connections to devices like the TV should be plugged into the LAN ports on the router.
See if that makes any difference.

Good deal. I was having issues once and could only get one device working when it was connected directly to the modem. I moved the modem to another room and all of a sudden everything worked. Disconnecting the coax was the key. Theory is, the ISP's system somehow learns whatever is first plugged into the modem and then only works with that device. If that device is a router, then no problem, but if it is a computer, then only that computer gets to use the connection.

After talking with the ISP last night, the issue was the modem was not registered with them. You would have thought the first person I talked to when I was setting it up would have mentioned that it needed to be. Anyway, after registering the modem everything is working great. Thanks for your feedback though. Greatly appreciated.
