Hi, I'm building my first pc and think that everything checks out ok, I just want to make sure I haven't made some massive n00b error in choosing my components, if you could check it over and suggest any necessary changes I would be grateful.

Also, I'm struggling with a monitor, I can't find any 1440p 144hz or 120hz monitor for less than £560, is this right? If so is gtx 980 sli overkill for 1080p gaming? I don't want to get a 4k monitor because of the low refresh rates.

Thank you for any help, the specs are as follows

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
£255.54
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
£26.34
Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
£110.24
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
£106.39
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
£53.94
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
£53.94
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card (2-Way SLI)
£461.94
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card (2-Way SLI)
£461.94
Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case
£119.98
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
£63.31
Pioneer BDR-209DBK Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
£58.74
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)
£67.95

Just to clarify I'm really unsure about which monitor to get and want to make sure the pc build is good enough to run new games at high settings for a while to come.

Thanks.

Mate ,go with a 970 sli setup - its plenty for 1440p 100htz+

That'll give you £300 or so back to put towards the Asus rog swift which is about as good as it gets without taking a chance on some of the Korean models which are hit & miss quality wise.

If you're doing a 980 2-way SLI setup, I would definitely recommend a higher wattage PSU. a single 980 would run fine on 650w, but in 2 way SLI a little more wattage is needed. Go for a 750w PSU at the very least. All your other component choices are compatible with eachother :)
