Guys I have moved house recently, and im now in a bedroom with no connection points for an ethernet cable and my PC has no wireless PCI card installed.

I can't run an ethernet cable from the router to my room without going through about 4 walls so thats not an option for me.

Is there some sort of wi-fi adapter I can buy which will provide me with as good a connection strength as the ethernet cable?

Or do I simply need to install a wireless PCI card into myPC?

Thanks in advance.

Andy.

If wireless is your only option, I prefer PCI cards, I find that the higher end cards are more powerful than the USB ones.

I would verify the strength first with something else that has wireless to make sure your strength and integrity is going to be OK first :)

No wi-fi will ever be as good as a wired connection.

Just get a wireless card, but it won't be as good.

I just cabled all the way around my house without going through walls, sticking to the skirting.

EDIT: but I agree with Kanewolf, powerline adapters would be good. Better than wifi, but still won't be as good as one wire.

If you don't want this I would recommend a PCI wireless adapter over a USB one, I find them to be more powerful unless of course it HAS to be USB then they have several models that are high gain, high power that may get the job done. Do you have wireless currently in the house, whats the strength of it in your room with say a cell phone or laptop or tablet or something?
