I play StarCraft 2, and currently. My PC which is a HP Elite 8000 8gb RAM, 3.33Ghz Core 2 Duo plays it pretty well. My 1gb video card w/ HDMI attached sometimes lags the more sprites are loaded or detailed landscape are present during the game. You can tell the lag pretty well.

Will this video card fix this problem? If not please direct me to the correct one that would play it without video lag on at least HIgh or Ultra graphics in the game.

thanks!

Solution
Yep, starcraft two uses exactly two cores. Extra cores won't help you there.

DDR5 is roughly 40% faster than ddr3 in benchmarks, and on an older game like SC2 paired with a 650 you're not going to go over 1gb VRAM anyway so yes, if you're comparing video cards:

2gb ddr5 >> 1gb ddr5 >> 2gb ddr3 >> 1gb ddr3

Nvidia Geforce GTX 750ti is about $135.00

I can get the other for about $65

as I would love to get the ladder I cannot afford it at this time. I just want to know if the device I listed will fix the video lag in the game.

thanks though!

A 650 will be fine but SC2 is a very CPU intensive game, your running with a duo core processor which is probably struggling, an AMD HD7850 or even HD7770 will probably out perform the 650 but I see you're in the US and the prices in the UK are completely different.

It is a CPU intensive game however I have tried a quad core @ 3.0Ghz and the game for some reason will not take advantage of the extra cores. There basically untouched. The 2 core @ 3.33Ghz actually runs faster than the quad. So with that I was able to notice the lag was from the GPU.

So I a DDR5 @ 1GB will run my graphics faster without lag over a DDR3 2BB?

I'm a little concerned about the card. There were no GTX 650's with DDR3 and 256 bit memory interfaces:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_600_series

There were GTX 660's with 256, but they were GDDR5. Is this the card you're talking about?

...there were some FAKE 650s a while back (re-flashed older gen cards). Just google 'fake GTX 650'.

BTW I vote for GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti. If you wait a while they will drop when the GTX 950's come out....

Cheers

Yes looks like the one I was viewing was fake. Ill just go with 1 gb DDR5 video card since I am seeing that's the best thing to go forth and purchase.
