Hello. Recently I switched my cpu from FX-4100 to FX-8350 and my computer keeps freezing and blue screening with message SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION on my Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. It stops working when not just when it's under load but even when my PC is idle. I did a Prime95 test and it looks like some of my cores keeps failing. Its different cores every time. I thought that it was my power supply so I bought the Corsair CX750M power supply and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler just in case it was over heating. I factory reset my computer and it was working fine for a week but it started to Freeze and blue screen again. My temperatures were around 53 degrees under load. I also updated my bios to 2501 and that didn't help. I have my FX-4100 in right now and it is working alright. Can anyone help me?

My system specs are:
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350
Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Video Card: Nvidia GTX 970
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
PSU: Corsair CX750M
Memory: Kingston Hyperx 8GB(2x4GB) memory
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Case: Antec GX700

Thanks, If you need any more information feel free to ask.

Okay, based on this i suggest the following:
Uninstall GPU drivers and Reinstall
I know you've mentioned it but check for BIOS updates.
Also, Remove your RAM and put them back again. ( Are they of the same frequencies ? Are you using XMP ? Or try interchanging the slots.)
Are you...

If it was a software issue, factory reset should of fixed it. It was also Blue screening before I even downloaded anything right after the reset.

Okay, Wheneveer a blue screen error occures, there is a error code following the error message you wrote. Can you give that error code ?
It should look something like ...
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x00000c, 0x00000d, 0x00000x) 0xc000007B
I need the error code after Exception

I can't get it to blue screen now, it just freezes and I don't remember the code. I'll post the code when I get a blue screen.

Also I see a couple of error like this in the event viewer:

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Corrected Machine Check
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 3

The details view of this entry contains further information.

Could this be related?

Are you Overclocking the system ? (GPU/CPU)
Reset settings in the BIOS.

**Last option if the FX 8350 is under warranty try getting a replacement
