Sorry if posts like this are already here. I've had my laptop for about 3 years and it's running pretty slow, I assume some viruses etc. are on it and as such want to wipe it to how it was when I got it. When I first booted up my computer I was prompted to make a backup which I did and thus have 6 DVDs worth of back up data and have copied files I wish to keep over to a portable hard drive.

I am wondering what I do exactly to restore it to the point that it was at when I first got it. Do I have to put the back up DVDs in starting with the first one and going through them all or am I to wipe the computer first and if so how?

I managed to boot the disks and the process was fairly straight forward and after some time it restored to factory settings. I now have a problem where upon starting up the laptop will say it is preparing windows for first use (or something similar) then proceed to the desktop where it won't let me do anything as it is installing setting or something and then reboots and seems to do this in a never ending cycle.

I was wondering if you know whats up with it and if so how would one go about solving this issue

Thanks
