What is the max temprature of the socket on a Asus m5a97 r2.0?

Solution

Numerous [OC] threads indicate that the following temps are ideal for safeguarding your hardware:

Max core/package temps - 70C
Max socket temps - 80C

I have the same mobo/cpu combo OC'd to 4.46ghz with stock voltage and dont get above 55C (core)/ 62C (socket)when stress testing.

While the m5a97 r2.0 is not a great oc board, if your looking to OC, check out: http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

You should be able to get modest OC to about 4.3GHZ without having to modify voltage (to be stable), and not creating a worrisome heat increase, especially with your 212 EVO. Like I mentioned, that mobo really limits OC potential. Personally, I find that 4.5 GHz is about the limit with this combo. I have have heard people getting it up to 5.0GHz, but Im not trying to fry any hardware and dont have the money to play with. You could even use the AI boost software that comes with the mobo and get about 4.2-4.25GHz and not have to change any settings. Ultimately, how high you want to go is up to you, so check out that "how to" guide I linked.

I added my own ghetto vrm heatsinks to the LE version, and I have a 212 evo. I have a 4.6 stable at 0.1 volt higher than stock. MAx load temperature is 55 on the core and 70 on the socket.
