Hi, I hope someone can help me here. A couple of days ago my psu decided to give up on me with a loud pop and a faint burning smell so I replaced it and now my PC will not turn on, could my motherboard be fried from the psu breaking?

My board is the Asus H81M-PLUS and I have noticed that the green LED still works on the board when the new psu is turned on, there is also power going to the USB ports but nothing happens when I try to turn the computer on, could it still be the motherboard even with the USB ports working? I'm worried that my CPU could have been damaged instead and that will be a bit more costly as I was using an i5 4690K, what are the chance of the CPU or even the RAM being damaged as I believe this board has surge protection so wouldn't that protect them from any damage?

All of the connections are secure and have been checked numerous times by myself so there has to be a hardware failure of some sort. I would really appreciate any help and advice that you can give me.
