Hi everybody,

I bought a new motherboard (Gigabyte 970A-DS3P) and 8GB of DDR3 (Team Group 1600MHz CL10), I did a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 (to have a clean installation of drivers) and since then I have regularly BSOD... I didn't have this kind of problem since windows 98...

Here is my configuration :

Motherboard : Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 965
Graphic card : HIS Radeon HD 7750
Power Supply : OCZ 700W
Memory : 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 Team Group 1600Mhz CL10
Main hard drive (where windows is installed) : SSD Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
2 SATA hard drives : Seagate ST31000528AS 2TB and Seagate ST2000DM001 1TB
2 USB HDD : WD 10EAVS 1TB and Seagate Backup+ 2TB, both with external power supply always connected.
Other devices : webcam usb, usb keys, sound card Echo Mia Midi...

Im on Windows 8.1 64bit.

I think that I have the most recent drivers for all my devices.
So... I don't understand where the problem comes from. It happens randomly when I'm on internet, or word, or when i'm listening music. It never happens when i'm playing games.

I did a memtest86+ (during 2h30, almost 2 passes : it's not enough but it's a long test) : no error.
I changed the location of the DDR sticks, no changes.

Do you have an idea of the problem ? It drives me crazy...
Thank you very much !

Hi guys,
I have tried several things to solve my problem, without results... Please help, I'm desperate :pt1cable:

- I did a memtest86+ during 16h (almost 7 complete passes) : 0 error.
- I tested all my HDD (with the softwares of the brand : seagate, wd, samsung) : no error, the programs say that my hdd are in good health.
- I did a scandisk on each HDD.
- My temperatures are ok -> CPU : 37° (max on charge 60°) ; Mobo : 40° (max 52°) ; GPU : 35° (max 88°).
- I came back on Windows 7 (I did a new install) and I installed the drivers on the gigabyte website + only necessary programs to have a normal activity (firefox, vlc, libreoffice...) : same problem of blue screen than in Windows 8.1.

I don't know what's happening, and it drives me crazy. Those problems have emerged since I changed my motherboard and my Ram. The fact that I didn't have those problems with my old Asus mainboard make me think that's a hardware problem. But all the tests are good !!? Maybay it's a incompatibility ? I don't know what to do...

Did Windows Update install any drivers for your hardware? Check the Update History of Windows Update. Drivers from Windows Update have a reputation of causing system issues (like Blue Screens, crashes or unusual system behavior).

If you determine that a driver is causing the issue, I suggest that you perform an OS re-installation, but this time, disabling automatic hardware driver installation from Windows Update. To achieve this follow the procedure in the below link:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/82137-drivers-turn-off-automatic-driver-installation.html

Note that this option, might not install drivers for any missing hardware drivers, or any hardware (like USB mouse, keyboard etc.) which you attach to the computer.

Hi bonou2, thank you for your answer !

I hate Windows update, and I always disable it during the installation of Windows. So, it couldn't be Windows update...
Furthermore, my installation of Windows is EXACTLY the same as before, when I had my old motherboard, and I had no pb at all !

The difference is the hardware (mobo and ram + new HDD), and so the drivers of the mobo (chipset AMD 970 + SB950, network card, usb 3).
The fact that I have exactly the same problems with Win7 and Win8.1 is disturbing : that makes me think that's a hardware problem. What do you think ?

Now I have to find other sticks of DDR3 to verify if the memory is not the cause of my troubles. I will also test an other CPU, and disconnect all others HDD than my main SSD and all USB devices (and maybe my soundcard, to be sure). If it crashes again, it will mean that my mobo is responsible. Am I right ?

It's so irritating... That was an upgrade to improve my PC, and now I take so much time to do benchmarks and several tests to solve the problem...
