switching a old hdd to a new computer, but a black screen appears and bios does not launch up

Basically I am replacing the old computer my dad has to a new one I used to use but not anymore because I'm upgrading. When I plug the old hdd into the new computer nothing happens, the led for the case works, fan for the cup works and it basically makes the sound of it running, but it shows not boot screen or anything. How am I able to fix this?

You need to install windows again. Switching a HDD to another computer rarely works unless the MB's are the same or close like the same manufacturer with the same drivers and configuration files.

Your os and your dad's os?... did you whether see it in BIOS?
your plug it in SATA or IDE?..
