Hi,
Im looking to upgrade my GPU, but I'm not sure if I will need a new CPU, MB, Power supply. . Here's some specs.

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model M68MT-S2
System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Award Software International, Inc. FB, 8/26/2011
SMBIOS Version 2.4
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 8.00 GB
Available Physical Memory 4.43 GB
Total Virtual Memory 16.0 GB
Available Virtual Memory 12.4 GB
Page File Space 8.00 GB
GPU AMD Radeon HD 6600 series
Power Supply 500w

If you could give me some advice on what parts I will need to upgrade that would be greatly appreciated. I was looking at a gtx 970, seems to be pretty good, and probably wont need to upgrade for a few years.

That is enough to make the jump to an i5, which is what you are going to want if you intend to play online games.

That power supply is a dead man walking, replacing it is paramount before upgrading as they tend to go boom.

Which gpu are you currently running?

It's that cpu that is the problem, probably worse one you could have chosen for gaming.

Curiously the manufacturer doesn't even list that cpu under supported list for that mobo.

Your current CPU is on the low end of FX chips anyway, & is the lowest FX chip supported on that board. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like your board will take Piledriver CPUs, only the older Bulldozer ones.

That being said, if you can find one then upgrading to the FX-8140 would be a good bump. It llooks like it would bump you from 4th- to 2nd-tier on the CPU chart (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html), & usually a 2-tier jump is the minimum recommendation.

Your biggest boost, however, is going to be from updating that GPU; assuming it's the 6670, you're way down at 15th-tier (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html). Not sure what kind of PSU you have, or how high the quality is. However, a fairly cheap & low-power option would be a GTX 750Ti (1GB reference cards don't need PCIe power connectors, 2GB or non-reference OC'd cards usually need maybe a 6-pin). If it can handle it, or if you get a better PSU, then an R9 270/270X (7th-tier) would be more than sufficient for gaming at 1080p or lower resolutions.

The PCU I am running is a APEVIA ATX-CW500WP4 500W. So It looks like upgrading my PCU, MB, CPU, and GPU is going to be my safest bet to ensure that everything can run properly. But then again I'm mostly going to play WoW and possibly FF13/ Elder Scrolls. With that said, what parts do you recommend? Im not looking to spend more than $600, 450-500 would be optimal for everything.

If you want to lower the price a bit, go with a 280x instead of the 970.
