Hi, not sure if this is worthwhile but that's why I'm here! I have an old desktop pc that stopped working a while back. A few basic checks suggest the motherboard is the problem but I can't decide what to do with it. This is the spec:

CPU - Intel Core2 Duo E7400 (2.80GHz) 1066Hz FSB/3MB L2 Cache
Mobo - ASUS P5N73-AM: DDR2, S-ATA II, 1 x PCI-E x16, 2 PCI, etc
GPU - 512MB ATI RADEON HD 4550 PCI EXPRESS

Now I was happily gaming on this at low / med settings and I know the best solution would probably be to scrap it and build something from scratch but I'm looking for a stop gap until I decide what to do. On the basis that the mobo needs replacing could anyone suggest a cost effective way to use what I have to repair and improve the system? Could be pointless I know, but if I can spend around £50 and get it back up and running again with slightly better performance I'll be happy :)

Thanks

What have you done to iso the motherboard as the cause of your problems?

I wouldn't want to invest anything in such an old platform, even the cheapest CPUs on the market right now would run rings around that old core 2:
