What kind of improvement will I notice if I upgrade my FX-6300 to an 8350?

This again, depends on what you are doing. For instance if you are running a POV-Ray rendering machine or a headless video compression machine then sure, it might be.

A gaming rig? If you want better performance these days you have to go Intel because AMD just doesn't have anything to compete.

The 8350 is a pretty solid processor, over clocks fairly well depending on cooling and board. Your current board supports it. It is really upto you on how you like AMD vs Intel, Intel is a popular way to go, but the 8350 is a well loved processor in the AMD community.

My 2 cents.

While going Intel can improve your performance, you have to balance it against the additional cost (Intel CPUs run higher in cost than AMD CPUs), plus having to buy a new motherboard (Intel CPUs don't fit AM2/AM3/AM3+ sockets, & vice-versa), plus the extra time & hassle of having to reinstall Windows from scratch.

You will see a little bit of a boost going from the FX-6300 to the FX-8350, but not a whole lot of boost. You might see the same (or even better) performance improvements if you get an aftermarket air cooler & OC your 6300, but it depends on how confident you are about OC'ing it.
