I'm thinking of building a PC and was looking for help and opinions on the parts:

  • Intel Core i5-4590 Processor (6M Cache, 3.3 GHz)
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
    MSI ATX Z97 PC MATE
    Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3
Kingston Digital 120GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive with Adapter
Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive
Gigabyte GTX 960 Overclocked 4 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX Case
Corsair Builder Series CX 430 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS certified Power Supply
Will this be good enough to run something like GTA V at decent settings?
And wondering if this PSU is enough or if I should go up.
Thanks

First off, you can just use the i5's stock cooler. You can't overclock it, and the stock will keep it cool enough. I recommend ditching the SSD, getting a cheaper motherboard and i5, and going for a GTX 970. Probably should get a higher wattage PSU (500+) if you go that route.
Some people will rail that you chose a Corsair PSU, but at the end of the day, it will power your computer just fine. I use one almost exactly like the one that you have, and it turns on when I need it to and it provides power when I run the computer to it's limits.

As the Aspiring Techie suggested, Yes, You wont need the Cooler Master 212 EVO since your CPU does not OC.
And the GTX 970 is definitely way better than the 960.
SSD is your choice but if budget matters then it definitely can be cancelled.
If you cancel the SSD, the 212 EVO, put amount in a i5 4690 and go for the GTX 970/980 whichever fits your budget. Also for mother moard check out the MSI Z97 Guard Pro. (Cheaper and good features.)

EDIT: Yes in case you go for the 970/980 then you'll need a 550W good quality PSU .
