As the title states I am switching my system to Intel, I am resuing the RAM, PSU and GPU as they are relatively new.

I cannot seem to find an answer specifically to my problem. I have a new Windows 7 install, new HDD, and SSD, obviously I want to use the SSD for the new Windows OS. The new HDD for storage, and I want my old HDD for access to files and applications so I do not have to reinstall them all. Is this at all possible by using the old HDD?

Solution
Yes.
Install windows on the ssd with no other drives attached. Otherwise windows will try to place a hidden recovery partion on the hard drive, complicating things later.
After the clean install, you can reattach your old hard drive and all your files will be available to you.
Any programs or apps that have registry entries(most will) will need to be reinstalled because the ssd will have an new registry.
