I have a hp DX2300 MT and the ethernet cable is plugged into the port in the back. There is a flashing green light right next to the port when plugged in. I have tried to do an ipconfig release and renew. When I do that it says something about how I need elevated access. To get around this I run cmd as administrator and then it tells me that "no operation can be performed on local area connection while media is disconnected." The ethernet works when plugged into my laptop, but as soon as it is plugged into the desktop it doesn't work.

Windows cannot find any networks even though ethernet cable is plugged in.
