Hello,
My mainboard is Asus Maximus VII Hero Z97, and the Asus support page for my board has SATA(AHCI) version 13.1.0.1058
http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_HERO/HelpDesk_Download/

Intel has a newer one 13.6.0.1002:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24779/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver

Which one should I use ? the point that Asus website doesn't put the 13.6 makes me wonder if it is not intended for my system and my mobo, or it might cause problems.

Thanks

ASUS and other manufacturers don't always keep driver versions up to date. I'd use the newer one from the Intel website. If it's not supported for some reason, the installer will most likely say so or fail to install. I believe it's correct though. Either one is probably fine. If you're in doubt, I'd contact ASUS technical support or Intel, and ask them to verify. I don't think that's necessary but it's always an option.

No, the other one is the latest one. How do you think an older revision number could be the latest. Doesn't really make sense. ASUS and every other manufacturer get driver support for the hardware components used on their assemblies from whichever OEM supplies it, which in this case is Intel. So if Intel has released a newer revision that simply hasn't made it to the ASUS website yet, that doesn't mean the version listed on the product page for the motherboard is the newest or offers the best hardware support. There are revisions for a reason, usually due to the release of newer hardware that does work well or conflicts with something about the older revision, and must be corrected.

As an example, the chipset drivers listed on the AMD website work with just about every, if not EVERY, AMD chipset that's been released for the various AM and FM platforms for the last several years, but almost every motherboard based on those platforms does NOT have those newer chipset drivers listed on their product pages. Once a hardware device is deemed outdated or end of life, manufacturers rarely if ever bother to continue providing updated support for that hardware.

I'd use the Intel drivers, but as I said before, the other drivers from the ASUS website should be fine as well. More important is probably being sure you're on the latest BIOS release before installing the updated chipset drivers.

what mahanddeem said - i installed a later vs than the 1058 vs and had issues with my xp941. I went to asus' support page for my board and downloaded asus' latest and my issues cleared
