Hi. My Toshiba laptop is running Windows 8 , which came pre-installed, and I haven't had any problems ever since I bought it (a year ago) until this morning. Last night I was watching a movie up until 2AM which is when I slept but I left the laptop on. This morning when I opened my documents folder, only two sub-folders were there, VirtualDJ and MAGIX Video Pro folders. The others were missing, including PDF and Word documents that weren't in sub-folders. On opening My Pictures folder, it was empty too! I checked the recycle bin but only a PDF document I had deleted 2 days ago was there. The "Hidden items" option box was checked and working fine as I could still hide and show hidden files. I have tried to recover the documents using EaseUS Data Recovery software but none of those documents or pictures were found. However, documents and pictures I had deleted myself were recovered. I then tried Recuva but I got the same results as with EaseUS. System restore didn't help either. Please help if you might have an idea on how I to fix this.

just try to search the file name in your pc , maybe you cut and pasted it somewhere else while you were sleeping i guess
