So there is my build with the exception of a power supply. I was wondering what you guys thought of it. For the price of it is it good? Will I have problems playing games in 1080 or 1440?

Maybe there is a better ram for the money or something like that. I spent several hours looking into all the parts on my own. Now I'm just looking to see what everyone else thinks of this.

Well minus the monitor was about $1500. I was pretty happy with the price this turned out to be. Do you think this would be a pretty good setup? I could go sli with another gpu in a few months or so.

This is what I came up with based on the budget your build showed (~$1300).

The Xeon is an i7 without an iGPU, which won't matter to you because you're getting the 970 (I'm jealous). I stream, video, etc. & this CPU is a beast.. you'll appreciate the hyperthreading when running your game, OBS, twitch, etc. all at once :D

You don't need an aftermarket heatsink with this CPU (can't overclock it) & the stock one is good enough to handle its innate boost (3.8Ghz).
So I threw in a better SSD (although the one you chose was def 2nd to best, good job). Also gave you a great power supply that will be more than enough for your build.

I took your RAM down to 8GB because you honestly don't need more. In the event that you want more, you can always add later. I'd say go with 8 and see if you really have a need for more before dishing out the extra cash. Just my opinion tho.

This build also leaves extra cash for a pretty nice monitor or whatever extras you want to throw in. You said $1500 max, so you still got about $180 left to throw around.

I would opt for the Professional version of Windows. You may be able to save a little dough with a somewhat smaller SSD since you are adding a big storage HDD in there.

I suggest swapping your FX-8350 for a FX-8320. That will save you $20 and give you comparable performance.

Since your HDD is for storage, you won't necessarily need the WD Black edition.
Here is a link to a 2TB WD Green edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236404

That linked drive is on sale currently, but even without sale it's cheaper. The extra speed you get from the Black drive over the Green won't be so important since you aren't booting windows, applications, etc from it. The Green will use less electricity as well.

Hope this helps!

If you're planning SLI you need z97, and if you're getting z97 you may as well get an i7 :D

Thanks for all the input guys. I didn't notice I went with Windows 7 pro. I will definitely change that to home edition. also you think I'm better off going with that Intel build over the AMD?

I have also messed around with computers but have never been able to get the hang of the lingo and such. I wouldn't think it would be hard seeing as I'm 23 and work on cnc machines. Which is operated by pretty much a massive computer.

Again thanks for all the help.

Micro Center (from what I've heard) will always have better prices. You might be able to get a lot of what I recommended there for a decent/comparable price (considering you won't be paying for shipping). Hope we've helped!

P.S. the Intel builds we posted will stomp any AMD build you can come up with. I'm not a fanboy, I'm a realist. :D lol

Thanks guys. Do you know how micro center does returns? I was hoping through them so if I get anything doa I won't have to wait forever to get it back.

You guys definitely helped a lot! I'm sure I'll have all kinds of questions
