As the title says, I'm not sure how to overclock using MSI afterburner to get some more frames from my 980s in SLI on my 2560x1440 Asus Rog Swift screen.

144hz is good but I'm not getting the FPS I was looking for in games like GTA5 etc.
GTA5 most maxed out settings apart from MSAA and FXA I get about 45 - 50 FPS sometimes a bit more.

I've also noticed my GPU's arent using more than 70% Usage with GTA5.

Any help appreciated,

Cheers

what is your CPU utilisation like? I've not OC'd a 980, but I can tell you that at that utilisation Ocing them will do nothing for you, if you are at 90+% utilisation (assuming some 100% peaks are likely) then it would be useful. A memory OC might be more useful perhaps? but show us the CPU util first.

Your cards are not beeing utilized in GTA 5 properly , because GTA 5 is a poorly optimized console port, yes i know it's sad after 2 years, but that's the truth.
I've tested it at 1080p resolution with 1x 980 and i can'T make the game use my card properly.

@13thmonkey I've fixed it. Done some manual overclocking of the card and it seems to make the cards both perform in the 80s - 99 load which is awesome, also after doing that I've finally got 60FPS Solid on everything maxed out apart from The two options, Forget their names, FXAA and MSAA?. Its perfect now for my 2560x1440 looks amazing.

I figured it out like this - Went into my BIOS and found out the stock overclock for my CPU was on(Hence the fact its usage never went above 50%) I put it into OC mode which the guy who built my computer obviously left a profile for me named "MAX SAFE OC AND BEST PERFORMANCE" and then that fixed everything, Overclocked my Cards via MSI afterburner with a few tweaks fails and errors till I got the safest stable performance boost. From 45 - 55 FPS to a Solid 60FPS with G-SYNC.
