Well, there are a few things to consider with an old hard drive like that. Spindle speed is one, corrupt discs can lead to a slow drive. The interface can be slow. I'd use something like HD Tune Pro to check it. That's just my favorite program to check a HDD. You can also use Crystal Disk Info, to get the smart information off of it, and Crystal Mark Test to see how fast it's actually running at. A drive with that low of hours should be good to go for a while, but at that age I can't see it being a very large disk, or very fast. Even if it was when it came out, things have changed so much in the last decade that against a newer HDD it'll probably lag noticeably behind.
