Hi everyone,
I'm currently building my first gaming PC. I have bought a GTX 970 strix, and my PSU is an EVGA G2 750w.
I am just a little confused. The PSU uses a 6+2 pin cable to power my graphics card. I figure this would be okay to plug into the card which accepts 8 pin connectors. But I have noticed that my graphics card doesn’t have the same pattern of shapes as the 6+pin connector.
Do the shapes (square & the hexagon shaped thing) matter?

Thanks

Solution
it should be fine, but make sure you are using the 6 + 2 pin connector for the PCIE and not the CPU power cable (4 + 4). And make sure you have it facing the right way it might be upside down, the clip on the 6+2 pin connector should attach to a latch on the power adapter on the GPU.

Just make sure not to force it, the only time you need to apply force when building a gaming PC is when you install RAM, everything else should go in pretty easy.

It should connect fine. Usually the graphic card connectors are universal :)
