I have an Antec EA500 Earthwatts PSU (500W Max.) running a setup with the following

Core i5 2500
Inno3d GTS 450
4GB DDR3 1333Mhz
DVD R/W Drive
Multiple USB devices (An external drive is always plugged in)
2 fans on the casing

The PSU has a current rating of 17A on each of its two 12v rails and the total output power for the 12v rails is 408W.

It tends to be quite clear that I need a new PSU for either of the cards, but as I searched the internet for information on PSUs I'm wondering if its possible to add up two of the rails to have 34A delivered to the GPU. Since the output for 12v rails is 408W, that divided by 12V is equal to 34A.

I got the idea from this site, the way they state it, it seems to be somewhat of a normal occurrence.
http://www.antec.com/PSU/Myth2.php
(Where it "busts" the myth 2b:
"Myth 2b: Multi Rail Power Supplies Lose Power Due To Their Separate Rails!")

The total output Amperage of the PSU on the 12v rails is 34A which is enough for both the cards I mentioned, is this possible and is it safe to do so?

Or should I just go with a new PSU, one that's available to me is the Corsair VS 650 which has a single 12v rail with 50A and 600W on it.

Well actually the Asus Strix 750ti site states
"up to 75W no additional PCIe power required"

http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/STRIXGTX750TIOC2GD5/specifications/

So this should probably work right?
